I truly think the only reason I like to bake is the dough…. I mean the end product is good but the dough is ridiculously good. Anyways, I decided it was time to just make edible cookie dough for the kiddos. I mean they have definitely had their share of regular egg cookie dough but just a bite here and there. They have by no means had serving size of deliciousness well until now that is.
Edible cookie dough really isn’t any more difficult or any more work than making regular cookies. I now ask myself why I have waited so long to make it.
Edible Cookie Dough
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Salted Butter Room Temperature
- 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 3-5 Tbsp Milk
- 2 Tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1 Bag Chocolate Chips We Use Milk Chocolate but you can use any
- 2 1/4 cups All Purpose Heat Treated Flou Find Directions below on heat treating
Instructions
Heat Treat The Flour
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Line A baking sheet with Parchment Paper and spread flour out evenly on sheet.
- Bake the flour in the 350F oven for 5-10 minutes. You want the flour to reach 160F to insure all bacteria is killed but you do not want the flour to brown. Remove from oven and let cool as you begin making the dough.
Making the Edible Cookie Dough
- Add room temp butter to a mixing bowl and mix until creamy
- Add sugars and beat on high for 2-3 minutes
- Add salt and vanilla and mix until combined
- Reduce speed and slowly add the heat treated flour until all combined. The flour does not need to be completely cooled.
- Add 1 Tablespoon of milk at a time until desired consistency
- Fold in Chocolate Chips
- Serve room temp or chilled. Store leftovers in an air tight container for up to a week in the fridge. You can also use a cookie scoop and portion out the dough. Place on a sheet pan and put them in the freezer until firm and then you can toss them all in a freezer bag. These will keep longer but might not last you any longer.
